MODULE 1: Repetitive Stress Injuries in the Cath Lab

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss anatomy and physiology of our body that is at risk for repetitive stress injuries
  • Discuss the diagnosis and treatment of these injuries
  • Discuss modification of our workplace
  • Identify federal agencies that can help with this process

MODULE 2: Successful Hemostasis with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump Line Removal

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Apply a comprehensive preparedness to vascular arterial line management.
  • Employ expert compression technique to promptly achieve and maintain hemostasis following IABP removal.
  • Identify the complications associated with external femoral arterial compression
  • Implement the necessary measures to mitigate vascular access complications

MODULE 3: Economic Impacts and Outcomes of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Continue the discussion on the ergonomic tasks healthcare providers face as they work in the invasive laboratories.
  • Identify the tasks and the problems that increase the risk of repetitive stress injury in the lab.
  • Discuss the survey results that asked the staff about their personal experiences.
  • Discuss how the injury has a ripple effect that affects more than the person injured.
  • Discuss the economic impact of repetitive stress injuries
  • Look at these issues nationally, and globally whenever possible, sharing the pearls of information, policies, studies, and protective tools among our healthcare practitioners’ private and government agencies.
