Target Audience

This activity is designed for infectious diseases specialists, other physicians involved in the management of HIV/AIDS, along with nurses and related healthcare professionals.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Outline the continuing epidemic of HIV as presented at recent meetings which highlight the issue of underdiagnosis and undertreatment
  • Employ new and improved screening and diagnostic testing for HIV/AIDS
  • Explain recent clinical data that supports the impact of earlier initiation of first-line ARV treatment on long-term outcomes in treatment-naive HIV patients
  • Implement current treatment guidelines and recent data (ICAAC/IDSA) for optimal management of HIV patients, with focus on treatment initiation and selection

To be eligible for documentation of credit, participants must participate in the full activity, complete the 10-question post-test with a score of 70% or better, and complete the evaluation form.
