Intended Learners

This activity is designed for cardiologists, nurses, and nurse practitioners who treat patients with atrial fibrillation (AF).

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize current clinical trial data on ablation, rate- and rhythm-control, and their impact on cardiovascular outcomes
  • Incorporate new guidelines for antiarrhythmic drug (AAD) treatment in specific AF patients with different comorbidities and clinical presentations
  • Implement strategies for safe and effective switching of AADs
  • Engage patients in meaningful communication to improve adherence to guideline-recommended AF therapy
  • Apply guideline recommended anticoagulants and validated stroke risk scoring systems in clinical practice for the management of patients with AF
